Two girls cried after class yesterday. Both are Latinas, and bright, good students with plans for the future. They stayed behind after class and cried because they feel disconnected from the white world around them. I had shown a film in class that hit close to home.

In the same room: white girls who were bored, and had to be told to put their phones away and not be textmessaging during class.
