email from robyn

"This is what happens when hippies run schools:
A's graduation from high school -
The school principal sang Bob Dylan's
Time of Your Life to the kids
and they gave him a standing ovation.
It was wonderful."

(Let me just point out that those were Australian hippies. Because (but maybe this is just me) I really don't see that happening in the US. Also, in the picture Robyn sent me the principal's hippie self is disguised in proper business attire, making the entire thing even sweeter.)

Hi this is Robyn. It was moving and uplifting ... and he sang it all about them, not about him, i reckon every kid in that hall went home knowing how strongly he felt about them and how much he wanted them all to succeed and be happy. (PS re the clothes, he always wears his suit and tie but when you look down he has on sandals)

Oh, I didn;t see the sandals. There were audience members' heads in the way. Nice touch, though. You don't want to get overwhelmingly formal, I guess. All high school teachers should have medals and a hefty raise. That has to be one of the most difficult jobs.

I made a mistake - the song is "Forever Young"

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

You are very funny. This song does make more sense! I like the other one too but it is kind of sad... I don;t know if the version I posted (hahha) is the same one you found because I couldn;t get your link to work. The voice... it's something else I guess!!
